How to Avoid Getting Tired by Technology and Keep Your Mind Engaged

With its widespread use, technology has made life easier for us. Taking out our smartphone allows us to do nearly anything. This ease of use, meanwhile, could cause you to rely more on technology than on your own judgment. Try new things, engage with others in person, explore the world without a GPS, do simple tasks like math and spelling, and avoid relying on technology to keep your mind active.

Applying Communication and Reading Skills

1. Go through more printed texts. Thanks to technology, you can now read blogs, e-readers, and online newspapers on your laptop, tablet, or phone. On the other hand, reading while instantly connected to the internet or when distracted can impair memory. Instead of reading a digital version of a book, newspaper, or magazine, think about reading a real copy.
Occasionally, skimming a newspaper item fast and moving on to the next link can result in a lot of brief informational bursts that you don’t give enough time to process or formulate ideas.
Reducing the length of one’s attention span can also result from reading brief online articles. It might also impair your capacity for in-depth reading.
Choose a book series that you like to read.

2. Read aloud from books. Although audiobooks are a wonderful invention of modern technology, it is easy to lose focus or cease listening to one. Consider reading a book aloud rather than listening to it. By reading, listening, and speaking a book, you activate a different section of your brain in addition to your aural senses.
Turn it into a social or family activity. You can read aloud from a book to a child or progress through your novels with a friend or partner.

3. Improve your vocabulary. People simply look up terminology on their phones rather than learning them. In order to spell, they also use phones. Look up a word and commit it to memory rather than looking it up and then forgetting it right away.
Acquire knowledge of the word’s spelling, definitions, and synonyms. To assist you in reviewing and memorizing the terms you are learning, you can create flashcards or keep a list of them.

4. Reduce your texting and increase your conversation. A lot of people have switched from conversing to texting. They don’t pay folks a visit or make calls. They converse and text on social media instead. A decline in linguistic and social communication abilities may result from this. Make it a point to speak with individuals face-to-face rather than through technology.
For instance, if you want to have a conversation with someone, you can phone them rather than text them.
Think about meeting up in person or going out to dinner. Make sure to put your phone aside and engage in conversation rather than staring at it all the time.
