On Tuesday, June 14, the streaming service’s Head of Global TV revealed the news, stating that casting for the 456 contestants had already begun. Any English-language speakers from anywhere in the globe are welcome to apply, albeit the ten-part series will be shot in the United Kingdom.
The South Korean drama, which started in September 2021, follows a group of cash-strapped individuals, notably divorced gambling addict Gi-hun (Lee Jung-jae), who agree to participate in an invitation-only event in the hopes of winning a large sum of money. The games, proves to be dangerous than the last, and the winner is whoever is still alive at the end.
Netflix’s vice president of unscripted and documentary Series, Brandon Riegg said, “Squid Game took the world by storm with director Hwang’s captivating story and iconic imagery.
