The vote to form a union at an Apple shop in Maryland is the most recent in labor drives

On Saturday, nearly 2-to-1, Apple shop employees in a Baltimore suburb voted to unionize. Here’s a glance at some of the other recent labor unions drives:
ALPHABET
A handful of Google engineers and other employees revealed in January that they had formed a union, marking a rare foray into the computer industry for the labor movement. The Alphabet Workers Union, which represents about 800 Google employees and is led by five people under the age of 35, was founded last year by the organization. The parent company of Google is Alphabet.
 
BLIZZARD ACTIVISION
After a vote involving a small number of Wisconsin-based quality assurance testers, video game workers at a branch of game publisher Activision Blizzard opted to unionize in May, becoming the first labor union at a significant U.S. video game corporation. Raven Software, a subsidiary of Activision Blizzard and the creator of Call of Duty, has formed a union with 19 “yes” votes.
 
STARBUCKS
A Starbucks location in Buffalo became the first company-owned Starbucks outlet in the United States to unionize in December. According to the National Labor Relations Board, at least 150 of Starbucks’ 9,000 company-owned stores in the United States have voted to unionize since then, with at least 10 stores rejecting the union.
 
AMAZON
In April, Amazon employees in Staten Island, New York, decided to unionize, marking the company’s first successful organizing drive in the United States. A month later, a second Staten Island warehouse rejected a union bid.
 
REI
In March, employees at a REI store in New York City decisively decided to join a union, making it the first REI store to do so. REI, established in Seattle, has over 170 sites in 41 states and Washington, D.C.
