The National Human Rights Commission office in Jos was informed of the girl’s condition by an unnamed neighbor, and also the Police were called in to help the girl. Khadija, a malnourished 17-year-old who was imprisoned by her aunt in a home in the Rikkos neighborhood of Plateau State’s Jos North Local Government, has been freed. Another girl who had been brought from the East by an aunt was also saved. She was mistreated and put to sleep in a goat hut.
It was learned that the girl, who had been an orphan, resided with her aunt, who had a history of starving and abusing her. The motivation behind this behavior was ambiguous.
Mrs. Grace Pam, the State Coordinator for the National Human Rights Commission, confirmed the circumstance. She claimed that the orphaned 17-year-old Khadija was imprisoned in a home’s balcony by her aunt Zainab, according to evidence provided to the Commission by an unnamed complaint.
The victim was allegedly left without meals while the complainant’s aunt traveled for nearly a week. She formerly resided with her grandmother due to the grandmother’s illness before moving in with her aunt. According to the investigation, the girl was actually underweight and had marks on her hands, neck, and other body areas.
These are results of her aunt’s beatings. In order to give the victim time to recover, she has indeed been given temporary housing.

Pam bemoaned the rise in child abuse in recent days, revealing that there is currently a case involving another complainant, a 9-year-old girl named Mmesoma who only moved in with her aunt 2 months ago.
When our employees arrived, she had her imprisoned in the zinc building where she kept her goats. The girl is eager to return and see her parents who live in the East.
The Coordinator pleaded with the populace to put an end to violations of human rights, warning them that if they were caught, the state’s domesticated laws, such as the Child Rights Law, Violence Against Persons Prohibition, VAPP, Gender and Equal Opportunities, GEO, and others, would be applied to bring them to justice.
