Denrele Edun, a popular TV host and crossdresser, has spoken out about his romance with late Nigerian singer Goldie Harvey when she was married.
Denrele said that he and Goldie had “intimate moments” as a married woman in an interview with NeeCeeBosslady Blog, according to NaijaPress.
The host has faced anger, particularly on the internet, for what some feel is a disrespect to the late singer’s family and memories.
Denrele, however, clarified the situation on his Instagram Stories, saying that his detractors misconstrued his words and that “intimacy,” as he used the term, did not imply sex.
Denrele went on to say that it was the first time in a long time that his buddy Goldie had been mentioned, and that if she had been living, they would have had a good chuckle about the situation.
“Intimacy is misunderstood!” Why do so many people associate intimacy with sex? What an obnoxious frequency! In this context, intimacy refers to ‘Shared Secrets,’ and ‘One Corner’ refers to ‘even catching me with someone in the Corner.’
“‘Igboro’ na Street,” says the narrator. We don’t get into trenches more than once! Oh then, it’s the first time in years that someone has mentioned the late Goldie… This would have given us a nice laugh!” Denrele penned an essay.
