Reasons I authorized Akeredolu’s arrest as a self-proclaimed monarch

Ademola Idowu Oloworiyibi, posing as the ruler of Irele in the Irele council area of the State, has been labeled a pretender by Governor Rotimi Akeredolu of Ondo State.
Remember that last month, Oloworiyibi was sworn in as the Olofun of the Lere Kingdom, but some other princes and interested parties challenged the state government, alleging errors.
 
Rotimi Akeredolu, the state governor, instructed the state police commissioner to detain Oloworiyibi in reaction to the uproar in the neighborhood.
Nobody has been authorized or nominated as the Olofun of the Irele kingdom, according to Akeredolu.
 
He claimed that this made it necessary to make the  Oloworiyibi, should be detained and prosecuted for misrepresenting himself as the town’s ruler.
The operations of Oloworiyibi were characterized as being excessive and unlawful in a letter from the governor to the state commissioner of police, which was endorsed by the governor’s chief of staff, Chief Olugbenga Ale.
“It is capable of generating disaffection among the peace-loving citizens of the historic town,” it said, with obvious implications.
 
The document says: “The actions of one Mr. Ademola Idowu Oloworiyibi, who had been posing as the Olofun of Irele kingdom in Irele council area of Ondo State, have indeed been observed with great concern by the Government.
This impostor not only pretended to be the Olofun of the Irele kingdom, he also claimed the authority to bestow chieftaincy titles on unwary recipients and his lackeys/cohorts.
The Olofun of Irele kingdom has not been approved or nominated, according to the State Government’s view.
 
The actions of Mr. Ademola Idowu Oloworiyibi are not just excessive, but also unlawful, and they have the potential to stoke discontent among some of the pacifists in the old town, with results that are easier to foresee.
The Ondo State Government has ordered Mr. Ademola Idowu Oloworiyibi’s arrest and trial in light of the above factors, among others.
It is a well-known fact that the Ondo State Government has managed respectful neutrality in the appointment of classical chiefs for the state’s towns and villages ever since beginning of our regime. This is unquestionably to blame for the state’s current state of peace regarding chieftaincy issues.
 
Therefore, the State Government would not stand by while any person or group of people disturbs the peace of the State by engaging in pointless and unnecessary chieftaincy tussles.
It was unsuccessful to get in touch with Oloworiyibi for remark because his phone lines were turned off.
