The KAP Film and Television Academy, in collaboration with the Mastercard Foundation’s Young Africa Works, is now accepting applications for its film and television production program.
The application, which is now accessible to young men and women in Nigeria between the ages of 20 and 35, is aimed at those who are interested in film and television production. A total of 300,000 young Nigerians will be trained over the next three years as part of this initiative.
Beginning Tuesday, March 15, 2022, interested individuals can apply to join the KAP Academy by visiting the website.
The registration and application process began in October, following the formal announcement of KAP Academy’s groundbreaking cooperation with Mastercard Foundation’s Young Africa Works.
The selection procedure would take into account a gender balance ratio to allow for adequate participation of women, according to a statement issued by film director Kunle Afolayan.
Afolayan went on to say that 40 percent of the applicants chosen would be young women and men from low-income families. Successful program candidates will be the first group of people to benefit from the training program, which will begin in May 2022.
“Through the supervision of veterans and film experts who provide hands-on experience in many parts of filmmaking to enrolled students, the school is focused on growing the next generation of experienced filmmakers,” he said.
Because the training will be provided through a mobile software, the KAP Academy will make use of smartphone technology.
The Mastercard Foundation’s Young Africa Works initiative aims to provide decent work to 30 million young people in Africa, particularly young women. To promote inclusivity, students from less wealthy families will be granted free tuition and smartphone devices as part of the support to ensure that young people engaged in the program have access to the resources essential for digital learning.
