The overall number of billionaires in the UK has now hit an all-time high of 177, according to the latest figures.
James Dyson, 75, a wealthy entrepreneur best recognized for developing market-leading vacuum technology, is ranked second on the list.
Dyson’s vacuums are well-known, and the inventor is now focusing on wearable technologies.
He has ascended from fourth to second place, passing the Reuben family and Sir Leonard Blavatnik.
Dyson made it plain in a fascinating interview with Fast Company that failing was necessary to succeed.
“I made 5,127 prototypes of my vacuum before I got it right. There were 5,126 failures. But I learned from each one, that’s how I came up with a solution. So I don’t mind failure. I’ve always thought that schoolchildren should be marked by the number of failures they’ve had,” he explained.
